(Fly shows an action.)
Example: He is happy.
(Is shows a state of being.)
4. Adjective
An adjective is a word that describes or modifies a noun or pronoun.
Example: The blue sky looks beautiful.
(Blue describes sky, and beautiful describes the appearance.)
5. Adverb
An adverb is a word that describes or modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It often answers how, when, where, or to what extent.
Example: She sings sweetly. (How?)
Example: He arrived early. (When?)
6. Preposition
A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and other words in a sentence.
Example: The cat is under the table.
(Under shows the relationship between the cat and the table.)
7. Conjunction
A conjunction is a word that connects words, phrases, or clauses.
Example: I like tea and coffee.
(And connects two nouns.)
Example: He is tall, but he cannot play basketball.
(But connects two clauses.)
8. Interjection
An interjection is a word or phrase that expresses strong emotion or sudden reaction.
Example: Wow! This cake is amazing!
(Wow shows surprise.)
Example: Oh no! I forgot my keys.
(Oh no shows regret.)
